Finistère Half Marathon brings a bold new race to Brittany

Brittany’s rugged cliffs and generous bread-and-salted-butter aid stations were crying out for a race of their own. Enter the Finistère Half Marathon, a brand-new event lining up for its first edition on February 22, 2026, in the heart of the majestic Crozon Peninsula. Expect sea air, granite cliffs and every excuse to push yourself through an unforgettable setting.

A first edition already attracting plenty of attention

The announcement has already won over plenty of runners: more than 4,000 participants are expected for this inaugural event, with a half marathon (21.097 km), a 10K and kids’ races to bring the whole family along. More than 250 volunteers will keep things moving, naturally decked out in yellow rain capes. You get the idea: this race is steeped in authenticity and Breton culture.

The courses? A spectacular crossing of the Crozon Peninsula, between sky and sea, through the protected landscape of the Armorique Regional Natural Park. The half marathon will start at the Rozavern Cidery in Telgruc-sur-Mer, an ideal setting for a race with such a strong local flavour, before heading to Camaret-sur-Mer via Crozon. The 10K will set off from the Salle Nominoë, a nod to Brittany’s first sovereign. It is a race, certainly, but above all a full immersion in the spirit of Finistère.

Sport, crêpes and plenty of character

Behind this one-of-a-kind race is François Hinault, a Breton at heart and in every sense, well known for his podcast L’Instant Outdoor. A sports enthusiast, proud of his home region and committed to fighting sedentary lifestyles, he has created an event in his own image: authentic, demanding and generous. Here, running is also a chance to reconnect with nature, with the community and with a landscape that commands respect as much as it inspires.

And if the Breton gods decide to throw in a little swell and an icy wind? So much the better. It will simply be even more Finistère. This half marathon does not merely embrace Breton clichés: it owns them and celebrates them, with a healthy dose of authenticity.

A few 10K entries still available!

While the half marathon is almost sold out, a few places remain in the 10K. It is a great chance to discover the event over a shorter distance, without giving up any of the emotion. Whether you are chasing a time, running for the sheer pleasure of it or simply earning a galette-saucisse at the finish, you are very welcome. The courses are demanding, but the long descents mean a PB is well within reach if you are properly prepared (54 m of ascent and 119 m of descent for the 10K, 149 m of ascent and 194 m of descent for the half marathon).
