More than 1,700 runners turned out under a bright sun on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for the first edition of the Sotteville Run. Organized by Stade Sottevillais 76, the day delivered fast times, including Lucie Lerebourg's historic 5K and 10K double, and marked the official opening of the new Christine Arron athletics track. A festive, friendly race that already looks like a fixture of the fall running calendar.

As debuts go, it's hard to do better. On Sunday, November 1, the Sotteville Run drew more than 1,700 participants to Sotteville-lès-Rouen (Seine-Maritime). Kids' races ran in the morning, followed by a 5K and a 10K in the afternoon on a course built for speed. Under a big sun, the times lived up to expectations.

A kickoff in the name of Christine Arron

The day began with a big moment for Stade Sottevillais 76, the event's organizer. The club opened its new athletics track and unveiled its name: the Christine Arron track, after the sprinter who has held the European 100m record of 10.73 since 1998, a tribute to one of French athletics' greatest champions. The club wants to keep her legacy alive and have it accompany the next generations of athletes.

The youngest runners took over from 11am: 700m for the Éveils (born 2018-2020), 1,300m for the Poussins (2016-2017) and 1,900m for the Benjamins (2014-2015).

Fast times and a double to remember

The 5K started at 2pm and the 10K at 3:15pm, just 75 minutes later. That makes Lucie Lerebourg (CA Montreuil 93) even more impressive: she won both races. In the 5K, she took the win in 16:57, 50 seconds ahead of Alexia Durand (17:47), with Elisa Retailleau completing the podium in 18:34. In the 10K, Lucie Lerebourg then clocked 35:47, a little over 3:34 per kilometer. Marion Hébert (S/L Club Athlétique Cauchois) finished second in 41:25, more than 5 minutes back, and Camille Varin third in 41:58.

On the men's side, the 5K was a proper fight. Oscar Auguste (Avia Club Athlétisme) won in 15:43, but Erwan Baudin was right behind in 15:55. Enzo Trohel rounded out the podium in 15:58. Three men within 15 seconds, and the suspense lasted to the line. In the 10K, Antoine Regnier of Stade Sottevillais 76 won on home turf in 30:38. Antoine Vottier took second in 31:27, 49 seconds back, ahead of Khaled Dahamna (32:42). For the host club, it's a great way to launch a first edition.

Crowds on the roadside, and for a good cause

Another highlight of the day was the crowd. Spectators lined the whole course, and runners enjoyed seeing so many people each time they came through. That's the spirit the organizers wanted: a friendly, community race where sharing the moment counts as much as the finish time. The race village had its own program too, with a DJ all day and Tesla test drives, Cybertruck included.

The race also had a charitable side. Scheduled between Pink October and Movember, it promised to donate €1 per bib to the Centre Henri-Becquerel in Rouen, a cancer treatment center. The final amount has not been announced yet. The organizers say this first edition is only the start. Given the atmosphere, the sunshine and the times, it's hard to disagree.
