Alicante has its certainties: sunshine, the Mediterranean and a half marathon that, for nearly thirty years, has given winter a taste of summer. The Alicante International Half Marathon brings together thousands of runners, many of them from abroad, on a certified, flat and fast urban course that winds between the port, the seafront and the city centre.
A 10K completes the programme for those who prefer a shorter distance. At the start, the city anthem rings out before the field sets off, and all along the route, spectators make the coastal avenues come alive. With mild weather, a course made for personal bests and a festive atmosphere, the race appeals equally to time chasers and fans of sunny weekends, who are happy to keep the celebrations going on the port's terraces.
