Deauville International Marathon

Deauville Marathon: the North’s flagship event!

The Deauville Marathon, despite being a recent creation in 2019, has quickly become a major sporting event. Held every November, it attracts more and more participants. Suited to all types of runners, this race offers several formats, ranging from the marathon classic to shorter distances. In addition to the marathon, participants can choose a half marathon, a 10K, or even sign up for a relay, in teams of two or four. Children’s races are also planned, reinforcing the family-friendly and inclusive nature of the day.

As well as being friendly, the marathon—like the shorter routes—features a very flat course with an elevation gain close to zero ! The start and finish are located in the heart of Deauville, a renowned seaside resort in Normandy, famous for its beaches, casinos, and its American Film Festival. The course also passes through nearby towns such as Trouville-sur-Mer and Touques, offering varied scenery between coastline, beaches, and countryside. The route is partly behind the event’s success, bringing together elite runners as well!

From the very start, the event managed to win over both enthusiasts and seasoned marathoners. In 2023, the event welcomed more than 6,000 participants, a sign of its growing success. However, running in Deauville in November means dealing with often cool weather and unpredictable conditions, from overcast skies to rain. Still, these moderate temperatures are often conducive to better performances, allowing runners to maintain their endurance over long distances. But the Deauville Marathon, isn’t just about running—it’s also a high-energy atmosphere! Many volunteers are on hand to support and guide runners. What’s more, various events and festivities involve both participants and spectators. The Deauville Marathon has established itself as a key date on the calendar, offering a unique experience that blends sport, nature, and friendliness.
