A major fixture of the Texas winter, this race draws thousands of runners onto the streets of the fourth-largest city in the United States. The field sets off from the George R. Brown Convention Center and heads into the urban core, amid the downtown skyscrapers and spectator-lined avenues.
The course is especially flat and fast, ideal for settling into your pace without abrupt changes in rhythm. The route winds through a variety of neighborhoods such as Washington Avenue, River Oaks and the lush Memorial Park, before bringing participants back to the covered finish line. Held in January, the weekend also features a half marathon and a 5K.
