Lisbon Marathon

The Lisbon Marathon follows the Atlantic coast before reaching the banks of the Tagus and the center of the Portuguese capital. From Carcavelos, runners follow the ocean towards Oeiras, then continue along the river to Lisbon. The course is generally fast and offers little elevation variation, with water in view for much of the route. As it approaches the city, the course passes through Lisbon’s historic districts before reaching the Praça do Comércio, on the banks of the Tagus. The atmosphere shifts between seaside resorts, quays and the historic heart of the capital.
