In Liverpool, running takes place against the backdrop of one of Europeโs finest waterfronts. The race starts on the quays, at the foot of the famous Three Graces, before the course heads through the city, passing its grand landmarks, cathedral and listed docks. Runners then make their way to Sefton Park, before returning to the Mersey for a finish in front of the Liver Birds, the cityโs emblems. Created in 1994, this half marathon has become a classic on the British racing calendar, often chosen as a marathon test, with a 10-mile race held alongside it. The enthusiasm of the local crowd, renowned for its humour and warmth, does the rest, even under the changeable skies of northern England.
