Madison Marathon

In the heart of Wisconsin, the Madison Marathon offers a great journey through the state capital, centered around its iconic lakes. The start on Capitol Square sends the field off at the foot of the Capitol before heading through lively neighborhoods, the university campus, and wooded lakeside paths.

The 42.195-kilometer course follows an urban, green route that runs successively along Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. The rolling terrain demands a few surges, but rewards the effort with constant views of the water and the city’s parklands. Driven by the energy of spectators and the local college-town atmosphere, the event comes in several formats with the marathon, the half marathon and the 10K.
