Prague Marathon

Holding the World Athletics Elite label, the Prague Marathon brings together thousands of runners from around the world every early May. The start and finish are both on Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí), sending the field into the heart of a 42.195 km course packed with historic landmarks.
The race follows the Vltava along both banks and offers views of Prague Castle, the Powder Tower, the National Theatre and the Dancing House, not to mention crossing the Charles Bridge early in the race. With minimal elevation gain, the course lends itself to a steady pace on the riverside asphalt, although the cobbled sections in the historic center and bridge crossings require extra care with your footing. The weekend also features the Marathon Sport Expo at the Holešovice exhibition grounds, as well as family races held the day before.
