The Rio de Janeiro Marathon offers a spectacular journey between the Atlantic Ocean and the lush green mountains of Brazil. As they make their way along the city’s coastal boulevards, runners pass legendary beaches while keeping the iconic silhouette of Sugarloaf Mountain in sight. The route features some standout sections, including a crossing through the historic district, sweeping views over Guanabara Bay and long seaside stretches between Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana. Whether they line up for the 42 km, the half marathon or shorter races, participants run on the back of a festive, crowd-pleasing atmosphere. The completely flat course finishes in the heart of Flamengo Park, delivering a vibrant and memorable finish line for all finishers.
