Turin (Province of Turin, Piedmont, Italy)
21.0975โkm / 10โkm
At the foot of the Alps, Turin provides a setting of rare elegance for its half marathon. Covering 21.1 km, the race takes place on the city centre's roads, closed to traffic, and is accompanied by a 10 km race for those who prefer a shorter distance. The start and finish are held in Vittorio Square, one of Italy's largest squares, from where runners set off along the grand avenues, Baroque arcades and elegant palaces of the former capital of Savoy.
The Po, which borders the square, accompanies part of the course, while snow-capped peaks sometimes appear on the horizon. The fast, well-organised route appeals both to runners chasing a personal best and to those who come to discover the city at their own pace, encouraged by warm support from the crowds. After the race, it's easy to extend the getaway with a visit to a historic cafรฉ, over a cup of Turin-style hot chocolate or an Italian aperitif.
