Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2: Adidas’ New Record-Breaking Rocket

The pursuit of performance knows no limits. Adidas is proving it once again with the launch of its all-new Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2, a shoe that pushes the boundaries of what is possible even further. The successor to the Pro Evo 1, which had already shaken up the running world with its performance... and its price, this high-end model is clearly aimed at the elite: runners chasing the ultimate experience and athletes hunting records.

More foam, the same weight: promising even greater energy return

The German brand knows that weight is one of the defining performance characteristics of a racing shoe. The first major change: a 3 mm increase in forefoot stack height, with no added weight. The result? The scale still reads 138 grams, making it the lightest carbon-plated shoe on the market. More importantly, the LIGHTSTRIKE PRO EVO foam is even more generous, delivering 5% more energy return than the previous model. For well-trained runners, those figures translate into reduced muscular fatigue, sustained efficiency deep into the effort and, ultimately, seconds shaved off their times (or even minutes?).

Minimalist design, maximum impact

The outsole has also been redesigned. Its strategically placed raised pattern improves grip on the road, even during a maximal toe-off. This was one of the changes runners had been waiting for compared with the first model. The rocker (the curve in the sole that creates a rolling effect) is still pronounced and positioned just beyond the midpoint of the foot, at 60% of the shoe’s length, promoting an ultra-fast transition from heel to toe.
In other words, everything has been designed to help your foot roll through faster, harder and more smoothly.

The Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2 was born from our obsessive pursuit of speed, refined through rigorous testing, from altitude training camps in Iten, Kenya, to our innovation labs in Herzogenaurach. Working hand in hand with our elite athletes, we developed a shoe that delivers greater energy return and improved running economy, without compromising agility.

A sole built for speed

Visually, the Adios Pro Evo 2 retains the futuristic, understated look that made the Evo 1 so distinctive: a silver upper, with the brand’s three red stripes still as bold and instantly recognisable, whatever the pace. There is no unnecessary detailing here, just the essentials. A design built for pure performance.

€500 for 138 grams of technology underfoot

Priced at €500, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2 sits at the top of the market, well above the most exclusive models from Nike, Asics and Saucony. But it backs up the price with measurable, proven innovations: world records, Olympic medals and victories at the World Marathon Majors... the Evo 1 left its mark. The Evo 2 is aiming even higher.

After breaking the women’s marathon world record in the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, I couldn’t wait to test the next version, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2, and the experience was incredible. It offers exceptional lightness while returning energy and bounce underfoot beautifully, giving me a feeling of comfort and confidence so I can focus solely on my performance.

There is no mystery here: this shoe is built for race day, those moments when every detail matters. It is aimed at experienced runners who have mastered their stride and are looking for the sharpest possible tool for road races, from 5K to marathon. This is not an everyday training shoe. It is a genuine Formula 1 car that only comes out for the biggest occasions.

And in that game, it is hard to do better.
