The fifth edition of the Sources du Lac d’Annecy Half Marathon took place in an exceptional setting, between the lakefront and the surrounding mountains. Nearly 2,000 participants lined up for the start of this iconic Haute-Savoie event. Guillaume Adam and Jess Anand reigned supreme over the 21 km of this 2025 edition.

In the heart of the Bauges Regional Natural Park, the shores of one of Europe’s most beautiful lakes hosted the Sources du Lac d’Annecy Half Marathon on October 5, welcoming nearly 2,000 runners. Winding through picturesque villages and surrounded by the Semnoz and La Tournette mountains, the course offers stunning views of a landscape made even more breathtaking by the colors of autumn. The start was given in the village of Doussard, in the southern part of the lake known as the “Petit Lac” — a lesser-known area that locals consider the most beautiful and unspoiled stretch of the lake.

The course is mostly flat and fast, with a total elevation gain of about 100 meters. Runners follow one of France’s oldest greenways along the shores of the Grand Lac, passing through the port, beaches, and the village of Saint-Jorioz, before reaching Duingt, nicknamed “the pearl of the lake.” The route then leads toward the sources of Lake Annecy, true to the race’s name. Part of the Léman Running Trophy, the event can also be run as a relay. A 10K race and free children’s runs are also offered, making it a celebration for runners of all ages.

Guillaume Adam (Runmotion Team, co-founder of the Run Motion Coach training app) was the first to cross the finish line, clocking 1:08:55. Undefeated since 2023, the multiple French indoor champion reaffirmed his dominance this year. Antoine Rondot (GBS) and Cédric Montigny (AMO Mer) completed the podium with times of 1:10:14 and 1:14:04 respectively.

In the women’s race, victory went to British runner Jess Anand in 1:23:06. Margot Marillier (AC Chenôve) followed with 1:24:18, and Kathryn Griffin finished in 1:26:24.

The 10 km race was won by Gaëtan Dreyer in 31:40, followed by Charles Franckaert in second place with 32:38, and Anthony Vernagallo in third with 32:51. Sarah Kunz dominated the women’s field, finishing in 37:52 and leaving no room for her rivals Vanessa Chaput (second in 38:42) and Manon Ricceti (third in 39:50, Team MV Thermique).

The Sources du Lac d’Annecy Half Marathon is surely one of the most beautiful races in France. Runners had the joy of competing along the lake’s shores, surrounded by a landscape of stone and water enhanced by the warm ochre tones of autumn. This fifth edition once again delighted running enthusiasts, whether they came to chase a personal best, reach the podium, or simply enjoy a memorable moment among friends.
