New Balance 1080v15: The Brand’s Iconic Model Reinvented

Some shoes transcend time without ever losing their status as must-haves. The New Balance 1080 is one of them. Since its very first version, it has set the benchmark for comfort in running shoes — the pair you grab without thinking to log your everyday miles. For this fifteenth iteration, New Balance decided to take a bold step forward. The long-standing Fresh Foam X midsole is gone, replaced by an entirely new compound: Infinion Foam. A major evolution for one of the brand’s most beloved silhouettes — promising more energy return, better durability, and improved stability. But fans can relax: beneath the innovation, the DNA that made the 1080 a global favorite is still there.

| Infinion Foam: A New Cushioning Era

At the heart of this redesign lies a simple idea — make the shoe lighter, snappier, and longer-lasting.

Developed in-house, Infinion Foam delivers higher energy return and improved stability without compromising comfort. The new material is made by injecting nitrogen into TPU, resulting in a more resilient, responsive foam that also holds up better over time.

For the first time since version 6 (released in 2016), New Balance is moving away from its traditional EVA-based Fresh Foam technology.

The goal? To create a midsole that feels more “alive” — offering that signature 1080 softness but with a livelier rebound underfoot, and without losing durability.
It’s also a response to the changing expectations of modern runners: daily trainers are now expected to feel as dynamic as performance shoes, while still delivering all-day comfort.

The geometry remains familiar — 39.5 mm at the heel and 33.5 mm at the forefoot (6 mm drop) — but the feel promises to be slightly different: less plush, more balanced, and smoother through transition.

| A Redesigned Upper for Even More Comfort

Another big update: the upper. Completely reworked, it’s now more breathable and flexible.
A dual-layer engineered mesh hugs the foot more naturally, while lighter seams, a softly padded tongue, and a sculpted heel collar enhance comfort and lockdown.

The result? A sleeker, more modern silhouette that feels as good as it looks.
According to early wear testers, the fit is slightly narrower than past versions, and the design leans into New Balance’s signature lifestyle aesthetic — with bold colorways and a subtle vintage flair.

| Comfort Still Reigns Supreme

Comfort remains the 1080’s calling card — and that hasn’t changed.
Runners will still find the same smooth, cushioned ride that made this model a best-seller worldwide. But this time, comfort comes with an extra dose of performance.

The 1080v15 aims for balance: plush yet responsive, built for both easy runs and tempo days.
It’s the quintessential all-rounder — reliable, versatile, and perfectly suited for everyone from new runners to marathon veterans.

| The 1080: A Symbolic Shoe for New Balance

If New Balance had to keep just one model, it would almost certainly be the 1080.
It’s the brand’s flagship shoe — a symbol of its “running for everyone” philosophy.

But this fifteenth version arrives at a pivotal moment.
As competition in the running world intensifies, New Balance is positioning itself not just as a brand of reliability, but as a true innovator once again.
With Infinion Foam, it’s sending a clear message: the brand intends to reclaim its technical leadership.

| Built for Everyday Runs — and Every Runner

With the 1080v15, New Balance redefines what a daily trainer should be: not a shoe made for chasing records, but one designed to make every run feel effortless.
More responsive, lighter, and more dynamic — yet unmistakably a 1080.

In a running market obsessed with constant innovation, the 1080v15 quietly reminds us of a simple truth: running well starts with running in comfort. And on that front, the queen of comfort still reigns supreme.
