Every year in September, one of Europe’s most renowned half-marathons takes place in Copenhagen. How about a few days in Denmark’s capital for a sporty weekend? Ready to tackle the 21.1 km stretch of Copenhagen asphalt? It’s the perfect course to mix tourism and performance, winding through the city’s most beautiful districts alongside top international athletes.

Since its inception in 2015, the Copenhagen Half Marathon has become a must-attend race, attracting nearly 27,000 participants each year. This festive event brings together runners and spectators in a lively and friendly atmosphere. Notably, in 2019, Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor set a new world record for this distance, crossing the finish line in just 58 minutes and 1 second.

The course offers what amounts to a tourist tour of Copenhagen, starting from the central district of Østerbro. Runners then pass through iconic neighborhoods like Vesterbro and Frederiksberg, and by remarkable sites such as the Tivoli Gardens, Christiansborg Palace, and charming waterfront areas.

| How to Register for This Race?

Registration for the Copenhagen Half Marathon is highly sought after, and the 27,000 available bibs sell out quickly. It’s recommended to register as soon as registration opens to secure your spot.

If the half-marathon experience wins you over and you’re eager for a new challenge, the Copenhagen Marathon takes place a few months later, in May. The next edition is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 9:30 am.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a novice seeking new adventures, the Copenhagen Half Marathon offers a unique opportunity to combine sporting prowess with cultural discovery in a vibrant and welcoming city.
