Marathon de la Bière: where the cheers flow as freely as the sweat

Beer lovers will descend on Montbrison from June 6 to 9 for the third edition of the Marathon de la Bière. With more than 5,500 participants expected in 2025, this festive Pentecost weekend promises a memorable mix of running, good times and plenty of hops.

In the Loire, one small race organizer is thinking big. In just three years, the Marathon de la Bière de Montbrison has become a fixture on the local running calendar, and perhaps beyond. For the 2025 edition, held over the Pentecost weekend, the organizers are already breaking all their records. More than 5,500 runners are expected across the event's various races: marathon, half marathon, 10K, hiking event and kids' race. With a Gaulish theme, this race is promising plenty of sporting ambition, but above all a party atmosphere, complete with runners in costume, fired-up supporters and an organization ready to go.

These irreducible runners can count on plenty of aid stations to refuel and, above all, wash everything down with the famous blonde, amber or dark magic potion. The Marathon de la Bière is a race, but it's also one big party. Even those who aren't ready to lace up yet are invited to join in the fun at this beerilliant event!

The festival schedule

➜ Friday, June 6: Opening night for anyone who wants to get straight into the spirit, with beer tastings, food trucks and even a trumpet show!

➜ Saturday, June 7: The events get underway on Saturday with this year's new addition, the Marathon de la Bière hike, along with the kids' races. That evening, it's time for the The Place to Beer party! If you want to share a great night with your friends and fellow runners, this is the weekend's can’t-miss event. There's no better way to soak up the race atmosphere before the running even begins.

➜ Sunday, June 8: At last, it's time to lace up and take to the roads of Montbrison! The day begins with the headline marathon distance at 9 a.m. The half marathon and 10K start shortly afterward. All those irreducible runners will then be heading out onto the roads of the Loire.
