The French 10K Championships are heading back to the Loire in 2027. The 31st edition will take place on Sunday, April 11 in Saint-Étienne, as part of the Course des Babets.

The Loire is gearing up for a big year of road and track racing. After Andrézieux-Bouthéon in 2009, then Roanne in 2012 and 2024, the French 10K Championships return to the department's roads on Sunday, April 11, 2027. A full-scale dress rehearsal before a summer that promises to run hot at the Stade Henri-Lux.

The Course des Babets, launched into the big time

It's a real coup for such a young event. Launched in April 2026 by the Coquelicot 42 club, the Course des Babets found its crowd straight away. In its first edition, it drew more than 650 runners to the forecourt of the legendary Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Riding that opening success, the Saint-Étienne race now takes a huge step up as the official host of the 31st French 10K Championships. Alongside the main event, a 5K will also be on the program, giving relay runners, enthusiasts and PB hunters the chance to line up on a city course that is both fast and spectacular.

A historic double for Saint-Étienne athletics

2027 is shaping up to be a packed year for athletics in Saint-Étienne. After the French 10K Championships in April, the city will host a second major national meet this summer. The Stade Henri-Lux will stage the French Elite Championships, scheduled for July 30 to August 1, 2027.

With a spring road race built for fast times and a summer on the track for the country's best athletes, Saint-Étienne is firmly establishing itself as a must-visit stage for French athletics.
