The Berlin Marathon 2026 medal is finally here

With less than two weeks to go until the 2026 Berlin Marathon, organizers have unveiled the medal awaiting runners who cross the finish line on September 27. This year’s design combines gold, silver and blue, with several nods to the German capital and the marathon course.

A map of Berlin takes center stage

The front of the medal features a detailed map of the Berlin Marathon in the background. The marathon route is picked out in blue across the cityscape, allowing the full 42.195 km course to be seen directly on the medal. At the center, the “SCC Berlin” logo is joined by the blue bear, a symbol of the German capital and an emblem of the Berlin Marathon.

The outer rim features a gold finish, broken by two openings at the top and bottom of the medal. Two inscriptions frame the lower section of the design: “BERLIN LEGEND” on the left and “27. SEPTEMBER 2026” on the right.

The date marks the day when around 50,000 participants are expected to take to the streets of the German capital for the marathon’s 52nd edition.

The Siegessäule takes pride of place on the back

The reverse has a completely different look. The medal is split between silver and gold, with a raised depiction of the Siegessäule, Berlin’s famous Victory Column, covering much of the surface. The monument is rendered in three dimensions, complete with its column and imposing gold dome. On the right, the gold section features the official Berlin Marathon logo.

Another particularly striking detail is the braille inscription on the silver section of the medal. It adds another layer to a reward designed for every finisher.

A blue ribbon completes the design

The medal hangs from a wide blue ribbon, in a shade close to the blue used for the course map and the bear on the front. With its combination of gold, silver and blue, the 2026 medal brings together several defining symbols of Berlin: the capital’s map, the marathon route, the Berlin bear and the Siegessäule.

Runners set to take part will have to wait a few more days before they can hang it around their necks. On September 27, 2026, we’ll find out who leaves Berlin with this new finisher medal.
