Wine Marathons: A Truly French Phenomenon
Where else but in France can you find marathons that celebrate wine? Deeply rooted in tradition, France offers a delightful array of races centered around wine regions. With tastings at the pit stops and a festive atmosphere, these events are not to be missed! However, if setting a personal best is your goal, you might want to look elsewhere…
The DNA of Wine Marathons
- These events typically offer a variety of races, with the marathon being the main event.
- A strong local connection, often including the name of the wine region, promoting local products (wine & gastronomy), and engaging the local community.
- A heavily festive vibe with costumes, musical performances, and parties … the formula usually involves fun during the race and letting loose afterwards!
- Differing from other marathons on the calendar, these routes are less about pure athletic performance (no world records on these often hilly courses!) and more about conviviality, sharing, and enjoyment with a festive and gourmet program.
