Run for yourself, run for others too
Over the years, solidarity has become one of the pillars of Marathon du Beaujolais AG2R LA MONDIALE. The event's charitable efforts focus primarily on cancer research and support, through the Fondation Beaujolais Runners Marathon, created by the Beaujolais Runners association and hosted by the Fondation de France. Money raised through entries and donations is donated to three hospital partners: Centre Léon Bérard, Hôpitaux Nord-Ouest du Beaujolais and Fondation des Hospices Civils de Lyon. It helps fund MoveUP 100% Sport Cancer, a research program studying the benefits of physical activity for cancer patients. Each year, the foundation aims to donate at least €150,000 to support this cause and the sports programs that help people living with cancer.
Runners can also take direct action. With a charity entry, participants in the half marathon and 13 km du Rhône start their race while raising money for Centre Léon Bérard: for every kilometer completed, they commit to raising €10. The Solidarity Hike combines exercise with support for supportive care, with €10 from each entry donated to the fight against cancer. At the exhibitors' village, a conference on sport, health and cancer will explore the benefits of physical activity, while dedicated spaces will showcase the three partner institutions.
Fair Play For Planet label renewed
For the second year running, Marathon du Beaujolais AG2R LA MONDIALE has earned the Fair Play For Planet label, with a score of 73.05/100. That is nearly 10 points higher than last year, a sign that the organizers are continuing to improve their practices from one edition to the next. The label recognizes progress in waste management and sorting, responsible food, preservation of the natural areas crossed by the routes, and awareness-raising among participants and the wider public.
