Europe’s largest 10K race returns this Sunday, June 7, as the eighth edition of the adidas 10K Paris prepares to break attendance records with more than 44,000 runners set to race through the heart of the French capital, from the Trocadéro to the Arc de Triomphe.

There are certain mornings when Paris truly belongs to its people. Before the traffic builds, before the crowds take over, the city feels lighter, quieter, almost entirely yours. June 7 will be one of those mornings. Over the past nine years, the adidas 10K Paris has established itself as the capital’s must-run summer event. In 2026, the race reaches a new milestone few imagined would arrive so quickly.

When registration opened on January 22, all 44,000 bibs sold out in just 19 days—8,000 more than the previous edition. Sold out. Gone. Finished. The numbers say a lot about France’s growing appetite for running and about the place this event now occupies on the European racing calendar. Today, the adidas 10K Paris stands as Europe’s benchmark 10K, bringing together a record field of more than 44,000 participants.

Behind those impressive numbers lies the popularity of a distance that seems to strike the perfect balance. The 10K has become the favorite race distance among France’s 13.2 million runners, offering a rare combination of accessibility and genuine athletic challenge. Long enough to demand preparation, short enough to remain approachable.

The statistics reflect that appeal. Sixty-six percent of entrants are taking part in the event for the first time, while more than one-quarter will be racing an official 10K for the very first time. A whole new generation of runners is stepping onto the start line—well-prepared and highly engaged. Eighty-six percent follow a training plan, and 75 percent enter a race during their first year of running.

| A Course Worth the Effort

Ten kilometers in Paris looks unlike any other race. The 2026 course is designed as a showcase of the city’s most iconic landmarks, with every kilometer offering another postcard-worthy view. Starting at the Trocadéro opposite the Eiffel Tower, runners descend toward the Seine before passing the Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde and the Tuileries Garden.

The route then takes competitors past the Louvre Museum, toward the Opéra Garnier, up to La Madeleine and Boulevard Haussmann before reconnecting with the lower Champs-Élysées for the final climb toward the Arc de Triomphe and the finish line on Avenue Foch. Ten kilometers that feel like a movie set. Multiple pace groups will be available for runners targeting times of 40:00, 43:00, 47:00, 51:00, 54:00, 57:00, 1:00:00 and 1:05:00. Whether chasing a personal best or simply enjoying the experience, there is room for everyone in this field.

At the front of the race, the competition promises to be fierce. In the women’s race, attention will focus on a showdown between two former champions. Defending champion Manon Trapp, winner in both 2023 and 2025, returns after clocking 32:27 last year. Her main rival is Margaux Sieracki, the 2024 champion and owner of a 31:48 personal best. Also expected to challenge are Mélanie Allier (32:17), Javote Gueret (32:04), and rising talent Camille Place.

On the men’s side, Antonin Marquant (27:47), Mehdi Frère (28:48), and Aziz Boukebal (28:17) headline the field alongside Ishak Dahmani (29:18) and Faustin Guigon (29:43). Last year, Raphaël Montoya claimed victory in a dramatic sprint finish with a time of 29:05. The adidas 10K Paris has also become known for bringing together athletes from different sporting worlds. French handball legend Thierry Omeyer and former French rugby international Lénaïg Corson will be among the runners, adding another layer of excitement to the event.

| Mathis Desloges: From Cross-Country Skiing to the Champs-Élysées

One particularly popular figure will be present on the start line this year. French cross-country skier Mathis Desloges, who became one of France’s breakout stars during the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, will serve as the official starter. The 23-year-old from the Vercors region won three Olympic silver medals in Italy, becoming only the second French athlete ever to medal individually in Olympic cross-country skiing, twenty years after Roddy Darragon achieved the feat in Turin.

Following his second silver medal, Desloges told French television: “It’s crazy. I’ve never skied this fast in my life. We compete in a sport that often goes unnoticed, so standing on the podium with a medal around your neck feels incredible.” The setting may be different—from snowy trails to the streets of Paris—but the spirit remains the same.

| A Celebration That Continues Beyond the Finish Line

What makes the adidas 10K Paris difficult to compare with other major 10K races is its ability to fully embrace its mass-participation identity without compromising sporting ambition. Women account for 48 percent of the field, well above the national average. The Thule Stroller Start Wave also returns, allowing parents to take part alongside their children. Several participation formats are available, including individual entries, pairs, and four-person teams.

The event’s charitable impact continues to grow as well. Nearly 2,400 charity bibs have been distributed this year, helping raise approximately €440,000 for 39 nonprofit organizations, compared with 1,800 charity entries last year. For runners who missed out on a standard bib, charity fundraising remains the only way to secure a place on the June 7 start line.

Once the race is over, Avenue Foch transforms into an open-air festival featuring entertainment, activities and live music. Former French football star Djibril Cissé, now a popular DJ on the Paris event scene, will perform an exclusive set. Thirty separate entertainment zones will line the course throughout the morning, helping keep the energy high for all 44,000 participants. A 10K race, yes—but also a celebration of running in the heart of Paris, with all the sweat, pride, emotion and post-race euphoria that come with it.
