The streets of Metz were on fire this Sunday, October 12! Between personal bests, hometown triumphs and international performances, the Euro Marathon Metz 2025 delivered a show worthy of the autumn energy in Moselle. Florent Pierrat dominated the men’s marathon, Tatiana Proca shone among the women, while Mehdi Labied and Sandra Lieners thrilled the crowds in the 10K. For a few hours, the city pulsed with the footsteps of 9,000 runners and the cheers of an electric crowd.

What followed was an administrative soap opera, complete with twists, tension, and a last-minute verdict. In the end, it was the Euro Marathon that crossed the finish line first — officially validated by the prefect — while the Metz Mirabelle event was canceled. A confusing situation for many runners, but one that didn’t dampen the festive and competitive spirit of this memorable Sunday. Between high-level performances, unexpected surprises and a contagious sense of celebration, this 2025 edition won’t soon be forgotten.

| Tatiana Proca: the Moldovan pace-setter

Moldovan runner Tatiana Proca, who lives in Luxembourg, stole the spotlight. She crossed the line in 3:01:03, taking the women’s title and finishing 53rd overall, ahead of Louisa Marion (3:07:30) and Alsatian runner Camille Rodriguez Del Signore (3:10:15). Calm and consistent, Proca paced herself perfectly throughout the course, lifted by the cheers of the Metz crowds. “It was all about staying steady and enjoying the moment,” she said after her first international marathon win — one that will remain a milestone in her career.

| Florent Pierrat: the hometown hero

In the men’s race, Florent Pierrat, 36, from Le Ban-Saint-Martin, just outside Metz, claimed victory in 2:29:26, bringing some well-earned hometown pride to the Moselle. Nicolas Fenot took second place in 2:32:18, unable to keep up in the second half of the course, while Alexandre Tayon completed the podium with 2:34:59. Among local highlights, Julien François — coach from Thionville and former FC Metz footballer — took 14th in 2:49:23, proof that passion and performance can coexist long after a football career.

| Local speed on the 10K

The 10K event gave the local athletes a chance to shine. Mehdi Labied (A2M) smashed the clock with 29:51, ahead of his clubmate Baptiste Barraud (32:05) and Virgile Boffeli (Montpellier Triathlon, 32:13). On the women’s side, Sandra Lieners from Luxembourg (Audun-le-Tiche club) crossed first in 35:59, followed by Belgian runner Caroline Baudinet(36:12) and Laura Ripplinger (37:47). A showcase of power, consistency, and precision running.

| An atmosphere to remember

Beyond the times and records, Metz pulsed with energy all day long. The course, weaving through eight municipalities, offered scenic views and historic landmarks that delighted runners. Spectators turned every corner into a wall of encouragement, with music, creative refreshment stations and spontaneous cheers lighting up the route.

The event also showcased the diversity of the running community: elite athletes chasing performance, amateurs testing their limits, and even a few international competitors discovering the spirit of Metz. Smiles, exhaustion, and post-race chatter reminded everyone that marathons remain, above all, a celebration — a place where passion and perseverance meet, whether you cross the line in 2:30 or 4:00.

| Metz, a city that runs

The Euro Marathon Metz 2025 proved once again that the city is more than just a backdrop — it’s a true partner in every stride, a driving force behind every personal best. Between personal recordsprestigious victories, and countless small stories, this edition will be remembered as one where sport and togetherness ran side by side.

Florent Pierrat, Tatiana Proca, Mehdi Labied, Sandra Lieners — their names will echo through the streets of Metz for months to come, a reminder that every autumn, this city turns into a playground for runners and dreamers alike.
