The 2026 Prague Half Marathon is set for another sell-out success. With 17,000 runners due on the start line on March 28, 2026, the Czech race is the biggest in the country. It combines a fast course with a warm, supportive atmosphere at one of Europe’s most prestigious half marathons. Its place on the SuperHalfs circuit also draws runners from around the world. Unlike many major half marathons and marathons, Prague does not use a lottery. Even so, securing a place remains a race against the clock.

General entry: no lottery despite huge demand

With nearly 100,000 applications for 17,000 places, the Prague Half Marathon proved hugely popular for its 2026 edition. That means only 17% of applicants got the result they wanted, leaving many other runners disappointed. The race’s popularity has continued to grow in recent years, with its addition to the international SuperHalfs circuit playing a major role. Unlike other major half marathons such as Valencia, Cardiff and Copenhagen, the organizers do not use a lottery. All 17,000 places therefore go to the fastest applicants when entries open. As a result, the race sells out within just a few hours. Entries are sold directly through the official RunCzech platform a few months before race day. The entry fee also increases in stages. You can add various extras, including a finisher medal engraving and the official race shirt.

Run the Prague Half Marathon with a charity bib

Charity bibs offer an appealing alternative route into the Prague Half Marathon, particularly when standard entries have sold out. This option is more expensive, however, as it involves a financial and fundraising commitment. By entering through a partner charity, runners agree to raise a minimum amount in donations to support a charitable cause, such as healthcare, children’s welfare, inclusion, research or international solidarity. In return, the charity guarantees a race entry and generally supports the runner throughout the process with fundraising tools, advice and sometimes kit bearing the charity’s colors. Beyond the practical benefits, running with a charity bib gives the performance a human and committed dimension, turning every kilometer into a tangible act of support and collective action.

Prague joins the prestigious SuperHalfs circuit

When SuperHalfs was created in 2022, the Prague Half Marathon joined the prestigious international circuit. SuperHalfs now brings together six renowned half marathons across Europe: Lisbon, Copenhagen, Cardiff, Valencia, and Berlin. The circuit bears a strong resemblance to the World Marathon Majors. Runners who complete all six races receive a special SuperHalfs medal. Known for its high organizational standards and international atmosphere, the Czech race appeals both to elite athletes and to amateur runners chasing a fast time or a new destination. Its fast, spectacular course runs through the heart of the capital, follows the Vltava and crosses several historic districts, creating a unique setting for a top-level half marathon. A World Athletics Elite Road Race, the event attracts a strong elite field and a large international pack every year, adding to the prestige of the SuperHalfs circuit.

Entry for semi-elite and elite runners

The very fast course and depth of the lead pack are attracting more and more international-level runners to the event. Elite athletes therefore rarely enter through a lottery or the standard registration system. As with most major races, the Prague Half Marathon organizers directly invite several international athletes. Accommodation and transport are generally covered as part of the invitation. No qualifying time is required. Elite and high-level runners should contact the organizers, who select athletes based on their applications. The race records underline just how fast the course is.
