How to Register for the Mumbai Half Marathon
What if Mumbai became your next running destination? Unusual, certainly. Unforgettable, without a doubt. Running 21.1 km through the heart of the city once known as Bombay promises a complete change of scenery. India’s largest city hosts the Mumbai Half Marathon every August, an event organized by NEB Sports. The race has become one of the major running events at the end of the Indian summer, attracting more than 12,000 participants last year. The next edition will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, through the streets of the Bandra Kurla Complex, the city’s main business district. Be careful not to confuse it with the very popular Tata Mumbai Marathon, which is held earlier in the year.✓ So, how can you register for the Mumbai Half Marathon? Here is everything you need to know.
Registration: first come, first served
There is no lottery or instant sell-out like in Barcelona or Paris. In Mumbai, registrations are organized in several waves, with multiple opening and closing periods leading up to race day. It is a smart way to spread registrations over time.
Registration is completed exclusively online through the event’s official website. The first waves open as early as February, followed by several registration periods until August. Prices increase gradually, so the longer you wait, the more you pay.
The best approach is to keep an eye on the official website and the race’s Instagram account, where each new registration window is announced.

No changes or refunds are accepted within 60 days of the event.
As with most road races, entries are strictly personal. Running with another person’s bib may result in disqualification or even a ban from future editions of all NEB Sports events in the country.
It is better to follow the official rules.
A very early start
This is the defining feature of the Mumbai Half Marathon. At the end of August, the heat and monsoon humidity are still very present. The organizers therefore schedule extremely early start times:
➜ Half marathon: 5:05 AM
➜ 10K: 6:30 AM
➜ 5K: 8:00 AM
This medal has to be earned.
Running in the dark, watching the sun rise over the business district skyline and finishing before the intense heat settles in: that is roughly the experience Mumbai offers running enthusiasts.
The race is unique, with a fully urban course, but the weather conditions should not be underestimated. Hydration, controlled pacing and acclimatization during the days before the race are essential. It is better to arrive with a clear strategy rather than improvise on race day.
The start and finish are located at Jio World Garden, an outdoor event space in the Bandra Kurla Complex, surrounded by lawns, fountains and lotus ponds. It is a spacious and convenient area for welcoming all participants, although it is also exposed to rain.
The previous edition was not spared by the weather, so bringing dry clothes to change into afterwards is highly recommended.
The most recent course wound through the business district and alongside the Mithi River. It consisted of a loop of approximately 10 km with 40 meters of elevation gain, completed twice for the half marathon, for a total of 80 meters of climbing.
It is a relatively fast course without any major technical difficulty. The weather remains the main challenge.
The good news is that aid stations and water points are positioned throughout the course.
The density of runners varies significantly depending on pace. Elite runners may find themselves with very few people around them, while most participants are recreational athletes targeting finish times between two and three hours.
Good to know before race day
Yes, it has already happened to some runners who will recognize themselves here… Do not forget to collect your bib.
Bib pickup is available only at the race expo on the day before the event. No bibs are distributed on race morning, and on-site registration is not available.
Runners must bring their confirmation email and an official form of identification.
The race time limits are:
➜ Half marathon: 3 hours 30 minutes
➜ 10K: 1 hour 30 minutes
➜ 5K: 1 hour
Affordable entry fees, something increasingly rare in modern running, the setting of a major Indian city and a nighttime start make the Mumbai Half Marathon a truly unique adventure. With registrations organized in waves and prices increasing over time, it is recommended not to wait too long. The final registration window is likely to be highly competitive. Head to Mumbai for a running trip that promises a complete change of scenery, plenty of surprises and a very early wake-up call.
