ASICS has unveiled the TOKYO collection, a new footwear range infused with the spirit of the Japanese capital, where centuries-old traditions meet futuristic inspiration, peaceful temples meet illuminated skyscrapers. Featuring more responsive foams, ultra-modern purple colourways and, above all, two new models, the MEGABLAST and SONICBLAST, the launch comes one month before the World Athletics Championships and reinforces ASICS’ position as a major force in running innovation. The aim is simple: keep runners moving.

ASICS is not just another running brand. It is a true pillar of the sport, a reference point for generations of runners, always at the forefront of innovation while staying true to its philosophy: Anima Sana In Corpore Sano ("a sound mind in a sound body"). And what could be more natural for a brand born in Japan than to pay tribute to its roots and its capital city?

Tokyo energy at your feet

Every shoe in the collection carries a piece of the city. The soft purple tones, inspired by wisteria flowers, evoke hospitality and grace. Red accents drawn from the rising sun recall the power and relentless pace of Japan’s capital. On the start line or in the city, these are colours with a story to tell.

In September 2025, Tokyo will host the World Athletics Championships. Building on its Japanese heritage, ASICS has a long-standing and meaningful relationship with the city of Tokyo. This year, ASICS has continued to move minds and bodies through its partnerships with the Tokyo Marathon and World Athletics, as well as through the Tokyo: Speed: Race event. We are proud to launch a collection that celebrates both Tokyo’s rich heritage and its modernity, while introducing the latest additions to our BLAST range: the MEGABLAST and SONICBLAST shoes.

Two new models join the BLAST range

From the NOVABLAST, known for its explosive energy and versatility, to the SUPERBLAST, renowned for its exceptional responsiveness and long-distance comfort, the ASICS Blast series is aimed at runners looking for the ultimate running experience. This season, the range expands with two new models: the SONICBLAST and the MEGABLAST.

✔ MEGABLAST: designed for daily training and long-distance running, it features the all-new FF TURBO™ SQUARED foam, which delivers 32.5% more bounce than its predecessor, FF TURBO™. The result is maximum cushioning, a lively energy return and a weight of just 230 g. This is the first time ASICS has used ATPU technology in its footwear. The foam is known for its superior responsiveness and durability, making it well suited to regular use. The MEGABLAST is therefore more dynamic and even lighter than the SUPERBLAST™ 2. A genuine technological achievement from the Japanese brand.

✔ SONICBLAST: designed for pure speed, it combines the new FF TURBO™ SQUARED foam in ATPU with FF BLAST™ MAX, already used in the NOVABLAST™ 5, for an exceptionally soft and responsive ride. What really sets the SONICBLAST™ apart is its Pebax plate, called ASTROPLATE™, which propels you through every stride. Ideal for short, explosive races, it is essentially an upgraded NOVABLAST™ 5.

These two new models complete the ASICS Blast family, which has already become a favourite among runners in recent years.

✔ SUPERBLAST 2 : one of the most popular models in the maximalist super-trainer category, it is designed to reduce leg fatigue over long distances with FF TURBO™ PLUS cushioning.
