HOKA unveils the Rocket X 3, the third generation of its road-racing shoe line. Following the Rocket X 2, a firm favourite among runners, this latest version fine-tunes the formula once again: lighter, more responsive and still built for speed. Built for performance

Since its debut, the Rocket X line has embodied HOKA’s performance DNA. With the Rocket X 3, the French-born, now American brand is making a statement: this model is lighter, more responsive and more stable, designed to deliver maximum efficiency when every second counts.

Underneath, there’s a dual-density PEBA foam midsole delivering an ultra-responsive ride. The result is a propulsive, dynamic stride that remains stable even at high intensity, thanks to the Active Foot Frame™ technology, which helps keep the foot securely in place.

A redesigned carbon plate

Another major update comes in the form of the redesigned carbon-fibre plate. It now features a lateral wing, a subtle addition from HOKA’s product development team. It reinforces lateral stability and improves energy return, delivering more efficient propulsion with every stride.

The rubber outsole provides reliable grip in all conditions, while the fine, breathable woven jacquard mesh upper strikes a strong balance between breathability, comfort and low weight.

Lighter and faster

Weight has become a defining factor in the design of carbon-plated performance shoes. At 185 g in a size 38 and 226 g in a size 44, the Rocket X 3 is noticeably lighter than its predecessor, the Rocket X 2 (236 g in a size 44). It also comes with a slightly higher 7 mm drop compared with 5 mm previously. That adjustment should appeal to runners who favour a smoother midfoot strike.

Launch event in Paris on 9 July

To mark the launch, HOKA is hosting a training session at Stade Charléty in Paris on Wednesday 9 July with the HOKA Run Club. The programme includes a Rocket X 3 test run and the chance to share experiences with top athletes including Simon Bédard, Alessia Zarbo, Florian Le Pallec and Maël Gouyette.
