On June 1, Saucony unveiled its latest model, the Triumph 23. Throughout the brand’s lineup, the Triumph has long stood out as a shoe that combines plush cushioning with exceptional comfort.

For this review, the shoes were tested on a range of runs to provide a genuine take on this new model.

Saucony, a running pioneer

Founded in Pennsylvania in 1898, Saucony is one of the pioneering brands in running. Initially known for its technical shoes designed for athletes, it established itself with iconic models such as the Jazz, the Kinvara and the Triumph. Recognized for its ongoing innovation, Saucony has often been at the forefront of the sport, notably with its PWRRUN and PWRRUN+ foams. Today, the brand caters to everyone from everyday runners to elite athletes. With more than a century of history behind it, Saucony continues to put performance and comfort at the heart of its designs.

Comfort is the Triumph’s calling card

The Triumph 23 delivers an exceptionally comfortable ride thanks to its PWRRUN+ foam, which is both plush and responsive. Every stride is absorbed smoothly, reducing impact and providing lasting comfort, even on long runs. Despite all that cushioning underfoot, the shoe remains surprisingly light. Saucony has managed to combine protection and a smooth ride without weighing down your stride. That rare balance makes the Triumph 23 a benchmark for comfort.

Why choose the Triumph 23?

➜ A genuine comfort guarantee
➜ Plenty of cushioning without compromising on weight
➜ Ideal for long runs
➜ A natural ride

Testing conditions

The shoes were tested several times, covering a total of around 50 kilometers over a range of runs.

➜ Road run
➜ 3 x 1,000m tempo session
➜ Run on groomed trails
➜ Long run

Four different runs across four different surfaces and uses. This made it possible to assess the shoes’ specific strengths and understand which terrain they are best suited to. In this case, they are primarily designed for easy runs and long runs.

What I liked / What I liked less

The positives

Lightweight design (even in a women’s size 41): at 239 grams, that’s the women’s model’s weight. There’s no need to put them on the scales to confirm how light they feel.

Excellent step-in comfort ++: This model feels genuinely comfortable from the moment you put it on. It works well for running, but also for anyone who simply wants to use it for walking.

Excellent foot lockdown : Whether around the forefoot or the heel, the shoe wraps securely around the foot.

The shoes’ looks and range of colorways: a model that combines comfort and style, with several color options available, including white, black, blue, green and pale pink.

The negatives

✘ Limited snappiness: The Triumph is certainly comfortable, but it is not especially dynamic. It works well for easy runs, but much less so for faster workouts.

✘ A visually wide-looking fit: the shoe, and particularly its outsole, can look somewhat substantial and make the foot appear wider or bulkier.

Light-colored and therefore prone to getting dirty : Some colorways, such as white or pale pink, pick up dirt quickly, especially in wet conditions.

In short, the Triumph was, is and will remain an exceptionally comfortable model from Saucony that is a great fit for anyone looking to run, from short easy jogs to long runs.
