The fifth edition of the Semi-Marathon des Sources du Lac d’Annecy unfolded in spectacular surroundings, between lakeside paths and mountain peaks. Nearly 2,000 runners lined up for this iconic Haute-Savoie race, with Guillaume Adam and Jess Anand ruling the 21K in 2025.

At the heart of the Bauges Massif Regional Natural Park, the shores of one of Europe’s most beautiful lakes welcomed the Semi-Marathon des Sources du Lac d’Annecy and its nearly 2,000 runners on October 5. Winding through picturesque villages, with views of Semnoz and La Tournette, the course showcases a rugged landscape enhanced by the colors of autumn. The race starts in the village of Doussard, at the southern end of the lake, known as the “Petit Lac”. Less well known, it is considered by locals to be the most beautiful and wildest part of the lake.

The course is fairly fast, with around 100 meters of elevation gain. Runners follow one of France’s oldest greenways along the shores of the Grand Lac. The route then passes through the port, beaches and village of Saint-Jorioz before reaching Duingt, nicknamed “the pearl of the lake”. It heads towards the Sources du Lac d’Annecy, as the race name suggests. Part of the Trophée Léman Running, the event can also be run as a relay. A 10K and free children’s races are also on the program.

Guillaume Adam (Runmotion Team, co-founder of the Run Motion Coach app) was first across the line in 1:08:55. Undefeated since 2023, the multiple French elite indoor champion confirmed his dominance once again this year. Antoine Rondot (GBS) and Cédric Montigny (AMO Mer) completed the podium in 1:10:14 and 1:14:04 respectively.

In the women’s race, victory went to Britain’s Jess Anand in 1:23:06. Margot Marillier (Ac Chenove) followed in 1:24:18, while Kathryn Griffin finished in 1:26:24.

Gaëtan Dreyer and Sarah Kunz dominate the 10K

The 10K title went to Gaëtan Dreyer in 31:40, followed by Charles Franckaert in second in 32:38 and Anthony Vernagallo in third in 32:51. Sarah Kunz was the strongest of the women in 37:52, leaving Vanessa Chaput (second in 38:42) and Manon Ricceti (third in 39:50, Team MV Thermique) no chance.

The Semi-Marathon des Sources du Lac d’Annecy is surely one of the most beautiful half marathons in France. Runners had the chance to race along the lake, surrounded by a rugged landscape brought to life by the ochre hues of autumn. Once again, this fifth edition delighted running enthusiasts, whether they were chasing a personal best, a podium finish or simply a memorable day out with friends.
