Brooks’ Ghost line is a staple in running, with 18 years of steady service behind it. It’s still a go-to because it delivers that soft, protective cushioning that works for everyone from new runners to seasoned marathoners. With the new Ghost AMP, Brooks pulls off a small revolution for what’s been a pretty conservative franchise: a nitrogen-infused DNA Hype foam and a brand-new SpringRamp geometry add snap and propulsion to every stride, without losing what makes a Ghost a Ghost. The result fits the moment perfectly, as runners chase faster paces without giving up the comfort that built the line’s reputation.

Brooks, a brand hitting the gas

Brooks is the brand everyone’s talking about right now. On trails and on the road, it’s everywhere. The numbers back up that momentum: 14% global growth in the first half of 2026. And Europe is where it’s moving fastest, with 39% growth over the same period. Impressive results, and a sign Brooks has built a product lineup that’s both innovative and accessible for all runners. From easy aerobic miles in a Ghost or a Glycerin to a 2:05 marathon in the Hyperion Elite 6, Brooks has managed to stay close to everyday runners while also leaning into the sport’s elite end.

Ghost AMP: Ghost DNA, turned up a notch

This new Ghost AMP marks a genuinely fun, lively shift for one of the brand’s best-selling franchises. After already dropping the offset to 10 mm and boosting stability on the Ghost 18, the American brand takes a more radical step. With the Ghost AMP, the drop goes to 6 mm, similar to the Hyperion Max 4, a more training-and-speed oriented shoe. That’s a meaningful change for a model historically tied to a classic, traditional feel. Worth noting too: there’s no plate, a key point for keeping the Ghost’s DNA intact and prioritizing true everyday use.

DNA Hype and SpringRamp: two new tech plays built for speed

  • Bounce and response : Underfoot, the Ghost AMP packs a new nitrogen-infused foam blending EVA and PEBA. This next-gen cushioning delivers noticeably more snap and responsiveness, letting runners lift their cadence without giving up the plush comfort the Ghost line is known for.

  • Propulsion : Brooks also built a new forefoot geometry into the Ghost AMP. SpringRamp debuts here, designed to sharpen forefoot toe-off and smooth the stride transition.

  • Hold and breathability : With a new breathable, secure mesh upper, your foot stays cooler and better locked in during the effort. Brooks also says stability through turns has been a focus. In short, expect a confident, reliable fit.

  • Weight : The Ghost AMP comes in at 255.1 g, versus 289 g for the Ghost 18. That’s a big drop and a real performance step for the Ghost franchise. Given how much weight matters for cadence and energy savings, this AMP version clearly leans more toward a “performance” take on daily running.

Who is the Ghost AMP for?

You could recommend the Ghost AMP to a lot of runners. It’s highly versatile, comfortable, and the DNA Hype foam gives you a solid energy return when it’s time to press. It clearly belongs near the top tier of responsive daily trainers. One target profile stands out: runners who want one pair for easy aerobic mileage AND an uptempo workout, without automatically jumping to carbon shoes that are pricier, less durable, and not built for everyday use.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a true race-day weapon, or you prefer a more traditional higher drop, the Ghost AMP won’t be the best fit. Its DNA still lives firmly in the daily-trainer world.

Does the Ghost AMP belong in today’s crowded field?

The Ghost AMP lands at a time when versatile trainers are taking up more and more space in runners’ rotations. It plays in the same sandbox as the adidas Adizero EVO SL, the PUMA Deviate Pure Nitro, or the Saucony Endorphin Azura. These shoes offer two big advantages: versatility and price. At €150, you get premium tech usually reserved for pure speed models, without sacrificing comfort.

With the Ghost AMP, Brooks isn’t reinventing its most iconic franchise, but it is giving it a real shot of fresh air with two major new tech additions. DNA HYPE foam and SpringRamp geometry bring extra pep to a platform that’s already proven itself over years. More than anything, this launch highlights a clear 2026 market trend: premium foams and fast-feeling ride qualities are now showing up in daily trainers at accessible price points around €150. On paper, everything is in place for the Ghost AMP to be a hit, and with Brooks’ current popularity, its success feels almost inevitable.
