| How to get a bib for the Geneva Marathon
Registration is open without time qualification, following a first-come, first-served system. Demand is extremely high—more than 10,000 runners were on the waiting list in 2025—so it is strongly recommended to register as soon as entries open.
Key registration steps include:
➜ Pre-registration opens in May for the following edition
➜ Early access in mid-September (24 hours) for runners on the pre-registration list
➜ Public registration opens the next day
➜ Many races, particularly the half marathon, sell out up to six months before race day
No qualifying time is required for the marathon.

| No alternative entry methods
Unlike many large European races, the Geneva Marathon does not offer charity bibs or dedicated fundraising entries. However, runners can support a charitable cause by making a voluntary donation during registration to The Human Safety Net Switzerland. In 2025, runners raised 18,000 CHF to support programs helping families and children in vulnerable situations. There are also no amateur elite quotas and no official tour operators dedicated to the marathon. In other words, the only way to obtain a bib is through the official race website.

| The course and the Geneva race experience
The marathon offers a unique 42.195 km route combining countryside and city running, finishing spectacularly on the Pont du Mont-Blanc, facing the famous Jet d’Eau, visible from much of the course. It’s an ideal race for combining tourism and performance.
With about 140 meters of elevation gain, the course is considered fast. Two climbs slow the pace slightly, but they appear early in the race when runners are still fresh. There is also about 200 meters of elevation loss, including a long downhill section between km 32 and km 34, offering a helpful boost for finishing strong. The final kilometers are particularly flat, making it perfect for achieving a negative split.
Official pacers are available for finish targets between 3 hours and 5 hours, and the time limit is 6 hours. The marathon regularly hosts the Swiss National Championships, including the 2025 titles won by:
Fabienne Vonlanthen – 2:39:13
Patrik Wägeli – 2:16:57
